  • Had a lovely week in Blanzay. A great village for a base to explore the area.
The house was pretty, comfortable and well equipped with everything you needed.
The owners made it easy and straight forward and I would most definitely book again

  • Loved our time at Hawthorns. The house is very well equipped with everything you might need, from practical kitchen stuff to outdoor games and furniture. So peaceful yet ideally located to visit numerous attractions and 'beau' villages which dot the surrounding area. Plenty of space indoors and out for everyone, whether it's doing a few lengths in the enormous pool, curling up in the shade with a book or enjoying a (badly played!) game of boules.
The village is lovely to wander round and pick up your baguettes fresh each morning from the boulangerie. Just a few minutes drive will take you to any number of beautiful small towns where you can visit rivers, chateaux, markets or just soak up French life from a cafe terrace. Communication with Louise and Paul was excellent, who made everything super -easy. It's everything you want from a holiday...no stress, beautiful home and amazing location. Thank you!

  • The house is very authentic and retains much of its original French charm.
I had a wonderful stay with 2 other friends. The house provided each of us with great sized bedrooms and two large bathrooms.
The house is a good size with plenty of rooms and outdoor areas to escape to and read a book or relax.
The pool is fantastic and bathed in sunshine for most of the day. It is very private and provides a tranquil space.
We loved the bright kitchen and spent a lot of time in there preparing meals there. We sat outside for most meals taking in the superb views across the adjacent fields.
Each morning we were able to walk to the local Boulangerie for fresh bread and croissants.
Civray is a lovely local town with weekly markets, coffee shops and a very nice restaurant alongside the river with a set lunch menu.
The location of the house is a good base to explore the surrounding area and villages further a field.
    I shall definitely be back.

  • We had a lovely relaxing family holiday at the Hawthorns; the house and garden are spacious, well-equipped, with comfy beds and bedding and two great sized family bathrooms. The pool is wonderful - a decent size for both swimming and pool fun ! Shade and a peaceful place to read could always be found in the large garden with plenty of room for Boules and badminton, keeping everyone happy. The BBQ area and the twinkly fairy lights were a delight in the evening. The village is a only a few minutes walk away, with a boulangerie and traditional French high quality restaurant which is good value at lunch times (remember to book in advance). The village also has tennis courts and a beautiful church well worth a visit. We enjoyed shopping in the market and boulangerie in the square in Civray, and had a lovely time exploring Poitiers, from where our son and his girlfriend caught the train to Paris for the day. For the family thrill seekers, the nearby Gliss water park (20 mins drive) was a huge hit. We would definitely recommend a holiday here.
